2006 Best in Show - Caitland Isle Take a Chance |
Crufts Best in Show is the most prestigious dog title in the world. At this year's event over 22,000 dogs are competing for this accolade but only one dog can be crowned 'Best in Show' meaning that it is the best dog on the planet!
Zena Thorn-Andrews is this year's Best in Show Judge and she has the very difficult task on Sunday 11 March of deciding which out of the final seven top dogs that have beaten the rest of their breed and then group, over the four days of the show, should take the title. She will be judging the dogs according to their individual breed standards and comes with many years of judging experience, making her one of the top judges in the world.
Now, for the first time, members of the public can vote online for their top dog!
Said Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary; “This is the first time since Crufts began in 1891 that we can give viewers the opportunity of participating in the show by offering them the chance to decide who they would have chosen as Best in Show. It must be very difficult for the judge to decide when they have seven beautiful dogs in front of them and of course the actual winner of Best in Show is the official ‘top dog in the world’! The choice is hard, and opinions differ amongst the viewers, so this year everyone is invited to join in and judge.”
Crufts will be televised on BBC 2 throughout the event but to see the final seven, tune into the programme on Sunday evening between 19.00 and 21.00. Best in Show is broadcast live from 20.30.
Online judging will begin at 12.00pm Monday 12 March and close 12.00pm Monday 19 March when the ‘virtual’ Best in Show winner will be announced! Make sure you take the opportunity to register your vote by logging on to www.crufts.org.uk/
